Homemade Dog Cake

Ingredients

3/4 cup flour
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp baking powder
1 large egg
2 Tbsp oil
1/4 cup applesauce, unsweetened
2 Tbsp honey
2 Tbsp natural, xylitol-free peanut butter
Frosting
1/2 cup heavy whipping cream

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Line a 6-inch round cake pan (or a 9×5-inch bread pan) with parchment paper and spray with nonstick cooking spray.
  2. Stir flour, baking soda, baking powder, peanut butter, oil, applesauce, egg, and honey.
  3. Pour into pans. Bake for 20-30 minutes, until browned and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool completely before frosting
  4. To make frosting: beat heavy whipping cream until stiff peaks form.
  5. Frost the cake as desired. You can double the frosting recipe and torte the cake (cut the cake in half horizontally) to make it a 2-layer cake.
  6. Store covered in a refrigerator for up to 3 days.
