Strawberry Pretzel Salad

Ingredients

--- Pretzel Crust ---
2 cups crushed pretzels
3/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
3 TBSP granulated sugar
--- Cream Cheese Filling ---
8 oz cream cheese, softened
3/4 cup granulated sugar
8 oz whipped topping, thawed
--- Strawberry Topping ---
(2) 3oz packages strawberry jello
2 cups boiling water
4 cups sliced strawberries

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees and lightly grease a 9x13 pan
  2. Combine crushed pretzels, melted butter, and 3 TBSP sugar in 9x13 pan and press into the bottom of the pan
  3. Bake for 10 minutes. Remove and cool completely.
  4. In a medium bowl, combine cream cheese and 3/4 cup sugar with an electric mixer on medium speed until fluffy
  5. Gently fold in whipped topping
  6. Spread cream cheese mixture over cooled pretzel crust
  7. Refrigerate for (at least) one hour
  8. Whisk Jell-O and 2 cups boiling water until Jell-O is dissolved.
  9. Add strawberries to Jell-O mixture and allow to cool while cream cheese layer is chilling
  10. Pour cooled Jell-O and strawberries over top of cream cheese layer
  11. Refrigerate until firmly set (at least 5 hours)
